“Becoming protagonists of tannery life” – Diventare protagonisti della vita in conceria-, è il titolo dello workshop internazionale organizzato dal Comune di San Miniato per far conoscere il distretto del Cuoio, le sue caratteristiche, le sue potenzialità, i protagonisti che vi operano (imprenditori, operai, ricercatori, tecnici) proponendo ai partecipanti un percorso che li coinvolga completamente nella vita conciaria del Comprensorio del Cuoio.
I partecipanti (20 provenienti da Grecia, Spagna, Romania, Turchia, Francia, Germania, Belgio, Finlandia, Lituania, Slovenia, Estonia e Lettonia) sono stati introdotti in questa realtà ed hanno imparato tecniche e usato strumenti tradizionali per la creazione di piccoli oggetti di artigianato in pelle. Ha partecipato allo workshop anche un cittadino italiano residente a Firenze e durante le attività laboratoriali sono state aperte le frequenze alla cittadinanza.
Oltre ai laboratori creativi ed attività manuali, sono state previste e realizzate visite guidate, incontri tematici con esperti e insegnanti, momenti di confronto e scambio, gite sul territorio.
L’Amministrazione Comunale ha gestito le varie fasi progettuali insieme alla AcademyNkey area servizi per la formazione della società Nkey srl, alla quale è stato affidato anche il coordinamento delle attività.
Hanno contribuito alla realizzazione del progetto come supporto didattico e organizzativo anche un Istituto Scolastico e associazioni datoriali e culturali presenti nel territorio come il Consorzio Conciatori di Ponte a Egola, Cuoiodepur, Polo tecnologico Conciario, ITS “C. Cattaneo” di San Miniato, Slow Food San Miniato e l’Associazione tartufai delle colline sanminiatesi.
Il workshop ha sicuramente permesso ai discenti di conoscere “l’arte delle pelle”, con particolare attenzione ai risultati raggiunti in tema di rispetto ambientale e di sviluppo sostenibile, sperimentando di persona la “tradizione conciaria” e le innovazioni nel campo della pelletteria.

L’Amministrazione comunale è rimasta decisamente soddisfatta dei risultati raggiunti dal progetto e proprio a seguito di questa esperienza l’Amministrazione vorrebbe rivolgere maggiore attenzione alle opportunità offerte dai vari programmi europei nell’ ambito dell’apprendimento permanente e non solo, avviando rapporti con altre istituzioni locali e organizzazioni che operano sul territorio.
Il Comune di San Miniato mira quindi ad impegnarsi nella promozione della conoscenza europea e nell’affermazione di una coscienza europea. A tal fine è stato creato uno spazio sul web, denominato “San Miniato e l’Europa”, accessibile dal sito internet istituzionale o al link http://sanminiato.academynkey.it/ per raccogliere tutte le esperienze internazionali che coinvolgono attualmente, ma che coinvolgeranno soprattutto in futuro, il Comune di San Miniato; una sorta di “vetrina” virtuale per mettere in rete le esperienze del Comune in ambito internazionale e far conoscere alla cittadinanza le attività e le opportunità offerte dall’unione Europea, sulla cultura, la formazione e il lavoro.
Inoltre il Comune di San Miniato vuole attivare una gruppo di lavoro costituito dai soggetti interessati a partecipare o promuovere “progetti” europei, come agenzie formative, istituti scolastici, associazioni di categoria, ecc., e prevedere incontri periodici per individuare e cogliere le opportunità offerte dall’Europa.
Il Comune di San Miniato poi, grazie a questa prima esperienza del workshop, ha richiesto di essere inserito come partner ospitante nell’ambito della Visita di Studio CEDEFOP 156 del Programma Trasversale LLP.
Il Comune inoltre si è candidato come capofila del progetto di mobilità IVT per dare la possibilità ai giovani studenti delle scuole superiori di vivere un tirocinio all’estero attraverso il programma Leonardo da Vinci (che è tutt’ora in fase di valutazione).
Per ciò che riguarda l’impatto dello workshop sulla comunità locale, è opportuno sottolineare che tutti i locali che hanno ospitato i partecipanti (albergo, ristoranti, bar, ecc.) e le aziende visitate (concerie, manifatture, impianto di depurazione delle acque, ecc.) hanno potuto entrare in contatto con una dimensione europea e conoscere il Programma di apprendimento permanente LLP Grundtvig.
I cittadini locali sono stati portati a conoscenza dell’iniziativa tramite diversi canali di comunicazione (inviti su quotidiani locali, locandina, sito internet) ed hanno potuto assistere alle lezioni dei laboratori creativi; in questo modo hanno avuto la possibilità di confrontarsi con cittadini stranieri e relazionarsi con questi ultimi in un proficuo scambio di esperienze.

“Becoming protagonists of tannery life” – Becoming protagonists of life in the tannery -, is the title of the international workshop organized by the Municipality of San Miniato to raise awareness of the Cuoio district, its characteristics, its potential, the protagonists who work there ( entrepreneurs, workers, researchers, technicians) proposing to the participants a path that involves them completely in the leather life of the Leather District. Participants (20 from Greece, Spain, Romania, Turkey, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Lithuania, Slovenia , Estonia and Latvia) have been introduced into this reality and have learned techniques and used traditional tools for creating small items of leather craftsmanship. An Italian citizen residing in Florence also took part in the workshop and during the workshop activities the citizenship frequencies were opened. The Municipal Administration has managed the various project phases together with the AcademyNkey service training area of ​​the company Nkey srl, which has also been entrusted with the coordination of activities. The municipal administration was definitely satisfied with the results achieved by the project and precisely following this experience the Administration would like to pay more attention to the opportunities offered by the various European programs in the field of lifelong learning and not only, by starting relationships with other local institutions and organizations operating in the area. The Municipality of San Miniato therefore aims to engage in the promotion of European knowledge and in the affirmation of a European conscience. To this end, a space has been created on the web, called “San Miniato e Europa”, accessible from the institutional website or at the link http://sanminiato.academynkey.it/ to collect all the international experiences that currently involve, but which will mainly involve the Municipality of San Miniato in the future; a sort of virtual “showcase” for networking the experiences of the Municipality in an international context and making citizens aware of the activities and opportunities offered by the European Union, on culture, training and work. Moreover, the Municipality of San Miniato wants activate a working group made up of subjects interested in participating or promoting European “projects”, such as training agencies, schools, trade associations, etc., and provide for periodic meetings to identify and seize the opportunities offered by Europe. San Miniato then, thanks to this first experience of the workshop, requested to be inserted as a hosting partner in the CEDEFOP 156 Study Visit of the LLP Transversal Program. The Municipality also applied to lead the IVT mobility project to give the possibility for young high school students to live an internship abroad through the Leonardo d in Vinci (which is still under evaluation). As regards the impact of the workshop on the local community, it should be pointed out that all the places that hosted the participants (hotel, restaurants, bars, etc.) and the companies visited (tanneries, manufactures, water purification plant, etc.) were able to come into contact with a European dimension and learn about the LLP Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Program. Local citizens were brought to the attention of the initiative through various channels of communication (invitations in local newspapers, poster, website) and were able to attend the lessons of creative laboratories; in this way they have had the opportunity to confront themselves with foreign citizens and relate to them in a fruitful exchange of experiences.
